Summary
As a meticulous AI researcher, I have thoroughly analyzed both provided summaries from the arXiv paper Prekosmic Grothendieck/Galois Categories.
My objective is to synthesize these descriptions into a single, comprehensive, and highly detailed summary that accurately reflects the paper's structure, key definitions, and main results.
Here is the detailed synthesis:
Comprehensive Research Summary: Prekosmic Grothendieck/Galois Categories
This thesis presents a deep categorical framework establishing generalized dualities between algebraic structures (groups/group schemes) and their associated categories of representations within an abstract symmetric monoidal category, denoted as a prekosmos
(K). The work is structured around two primary, categorically dual contexts: the Galois context and the Grothendieck context.
Core Framework and Duality:
The paper introduces axiomatic definitions for both pre-Galois and pre-Grothendieck objects within K, which serve as complete characterizations of their respective categories of representations internal to K. A central theme is the establishment of perfect correspondences:
-
Galois Context: A perfect correspondence exists between pre-Galois objects in K and pre-Galois K-categories pointed with pre-fiber functors.
-
Grothendieck Context: Similarly, a perfect correspondence is established between pre-Grothendieck objects in K and pre-Grothendieck K-categories pointed with pre-fiber functors.
The thesis meticulously details the structural properties of these contexts:
-
Galois Context: A Galois prekosmos is defined as a symmetric monoidal category K whose underlying category possesses reflexive coequalizers. A pre-Galois object is characterized as a group object in Ens(K) such that the functor pi - preserves these reflexive coequalizers. A representation of pi in this context is defined by a left action morphism pi x to x.
-
Grothendieck Context: Conversely, a Grothendieck prekosmos is defined as a symmetric monoidal category K whose underlying category has coreflexive equalizers. A pre-Grothendieck object is characterized as a group object in Aff(K) such that the functor - pi preserves these coreflexive equalizers. A representation of Spec(pi) here involves a right coaction morphism x to x pi.
Key Structural Results and Tools:
The paper moves beyond mere definitions to explore advanced categorical machinery:
-
Transformations and Automorphisms: Notions such as Galois morphisms, Galois transformations, and the (2, 1) -category GALCATpre*(K) of pointed pre-Galois K-categories are introduced. Lemma 12 confirms that every Galois K-transformation between pre-fundamental functors is invertible. Theorem 7 demonstrates that for a pre-Galois K-category T and its pre-fiber functor ̟, the presheaf of groups HomEns(K)(-, omega* omega!(kappa)) represents AutGALpre(̟), and this functor is shown to factor through an equivalence of Galois K-prekosmoi.
-
Colax Structures: The work investigates colax K-tensor categories, including strong K-tensor adjunctions and Hopf K-tensor monads. Proposition 2 establishes an adjoint equivalence between the category of reflective colax K-tensor endofunctors on (K, id K) and Ens(K), which is further extended by Corollary 2 to relate Monad K//colax(K, id K) rfl to Mon(Ens(K)). Proposition 3 confirms that End K//colax(pi, omega*) is cartesian.
-
Category Structure: The thesis proves crucial structural properties, including Lemma 11 (showing every pre-fiber functor for a pre-Galois K-category is surjective) and Corollary 4 (stating that every pre-Galois K-category T is connected as a Galois K-prekosmos). Lemma 8 shows that representations of a group object in Ens(K) form a strong K-tensor category, Rep(pi), which possesses a right-strong K-tensor adjunction with the underlying functor being conservative.
The Main Equivalence:
The central achievement of the paper is the establishment of a fundamental equivalence between the objects and categories defined in both contexts. The final section focuses on defining and characterizing the (2, 1) -category GALCATpre*(K) to achieve this goal. Theorem 8 culminates in establishing a biequivalence between the category of pre-Galois objects, GALOBJpre(K), and the (2, 1) -category of pointed pre-Galois K-categories, GALCATpre*(K). This is achieved by constructing Galois K-morphisms f: Rep(pi') to Rep(pi) and an invertible Galois K-transformation I: ̟ pi about +3f̟ pi', demonstrating that the 2-functors mapping between these categories are quasi-inverse.
**In essence, the paper provides a rigorous, axiomatic foundation for duality in categorical representation theory by precisely characterizing pre-Galois and pre-Grothendieck structures and proving a fundamental biequivalence between their respective object/category settings.

Abstract
We establish a generalized version of the duality between groups and the categories of their representations on sets. Given an abstract symmetric monoidal category K called Galois prekosmos, we define pre-Galois objects in K and study the categories of their representations internal to K. The motivating example of K is the cartesian monoidal category Set of sets, and pre-Galois objects in Set are groups. We present an axiomatic definition of pre-Galois K-categories, which is a complete abstract characterization of the categories of representations of pre-Galois objects in K. The category of covering spaces over a well-connected topological space is a prototype of a pre-Galois Set-category. We establish a perfect correspondence between pre-Galois objects in K and pre-Galois K-categories pointed with pre-fiber functors. We also establish a generalized version of the duality between flat affine group schemes and the categories of their linear representations. Given an abstract symmetric monoidal category K called Grothendieck prekosmos, we define what are pre-Grothendieck objects in K and study the categories of their representations internal to K. The motivating example of K is the symmetric monoidal category Vec k of vector spaces over a field k, and pre-Grothendieck objects in Vec k are affine group k-schemes. We present an axiomatic definition of pre-Grothendieck K-categories, which is a complete abstract characterization of the categories of representations of pre-Grothendieck objects in K. The indization of a neutral Tannakian category over a field k is a prototype of a pre-Grothendieck Vec k-category. We establish a perfect correspondence between pre-Grothendieck objects in K and pre-Grothendieck K-categories pointed with pre-fiber functors.
