Optimising antibiotic switching via forecasting of patient physiology
The study uses a Neural Process model to predict patient vital sign trajectories over a 12-hour window to proactively identify patients ready for antibiotic switching from IV to oral therapy. By forecasting physiological stability probabilistically, the system ranks patients based on the likelihood that their vitals will remain within normal ranges, offering timely decision support.
