Metal-Insulator Transition of Solid Hydrogen by the Antisymmetric Shadow Wave Function
Researchers used Variational Monte Carlo simulations with an Antisymmetric Shadow Wave Function (ASWF) to study hydrogen's metal-insulator transition under pressure. The ASWF provided a more accurate description of the system, leading to a significantly higher predicted transition pressure of 520 GPa compared to previous calculations, suggesting that better trial wave functions yield more accurate results.
