Momentum Diffusion, Decoherence and Drag Force on a Magnetic Nanoparticle
This research derives how quickly a magnetic nanoparticle loses its quantum superposition (decoherence) when exposed to fluctuating electromagnetic fields in a thermal environment, using the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The study shows that momentum diffusion is dominated by electric field fluctuations and compares the decoherence rates caused by magnetic versus dielectric properties, concluding that thermal drag is negligible compared to decoherence.
