Anyon Quasilocalization in a Quasicrystalline Toric Code
Researchers studied a quantum spin liquid model on a Penrose quasicrystal lattice, using an effective toric code Hamiltonian. They found that anyonic excitations exhibit 'quasilocalization,' meaning they spread sequentially over subsets of sites rather than delocalizing all at once. This behavior is driven by the geometry of the quasicrystal and its magnetic flux configuration.
