Local random quantum circuits converge to the Porter-Thomas distribution in polynomial depth
This work investigates whether local random quantum circuits of polynomial depth produce output statistics that resemble a specific mathematical distribution called the Porter-Thomas distribution. The research proves that these circuits do converge to this target distribution in total variation distance, providing a rigorous benchmark for testing quantum advantage in circuit sampling experiments.
