Analytical evaluation of surface barrier and resistance in iron-based superconducting multilayers for Superconducting Radio-Frequency applications

The study analytically evaluates how adding insulating and superconducting layers to iron-based superconductors (IBS) improves performance in superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) cavities compared to bulk niobium. Results show that specific multilayer combinations, like FeSe/I/Nb3Sn, can achieve significantly higher magnetic fields and potentially lower surface resistance, opening doors for SRF cavities operating at higher temperatures.
