Impact of the equation of state on core collapse supernovae I: the low- T/W instability

The study used 3D neutrino-magnetohydrodynamics simulations to investigate how different nuclear Equation of State (EOS) models affect a low-temperature/|W| instability during core collapse supernovae. The findings show the instability is universal but its resulting gravitational wave and neutrino frequencies are sensitive to the EOS stiffness, offering a way to probe dense matter physics.
