The missing ultra-faint satellites of the Milky Way

The study used high-resolution N-body simulations and galaxy formation models to predict which ultra-faint satellites of the Milky Way should exist but are currently missing from observations. The results suggest these missing systems are dark matter-dominated dwarfs with low velocity dispersions (1–3 km/s) that survive because they reside in dense subhalo cusps.
