In search of the third dimension in Compton X-ray polarimeters
Traditional Compton polarimeters only measure azimuthal angles, ignoring scattering angle effects that cause systematic errors for off-axis sources. This work proposes reading light signals at both ends of scintillator bars to estimate the depth of interaction (DoI). This DoI information allows the AI system to constrain the scattering angle, improving event reconstruction accuracy and sensitivity.
