Tracing Inputs, Verifying Outputs: Validating Attribution in Music Generation
The research developed an input-based attribution method to verify which specific audio sources were used to create music and whether those sources shaped the final output. By conditioning generation on known inputs and comparing outputs against training data, the study showed that MixAudio accurately reflects input characteristics, and audits confirmed that unauthorized reproductions are rare, providing a verifiable basis for music rights holders.
