Local Thermalization of SU(2) Lattice Gauge Fields on Quantum Computers
Researchers simulated local thermalization dynamics for a truncated SU(2) pure gauge theory on linear plaquette chains using IBM quantum computers up to 151 plaquettes. They tracked entanglement spectrum and entropy, showing good agreement with classical simulators for smaller systems. This demonstrates that local thermalization studies are feasible on current noisy quantum hardware for chaotic systems like lattice gauge theories.
