LLM as a Tool, Not an Agent: Code-Mined Tree Transformations for Neural Architecture Search
LLMasTool is a hybrid NAS framework that uses code mining to extract reusable modules and represents architectures as hierarchical trees. It employs a coarse-to-fine evolution strategy where an algorithm guides broad exploration, and an LLM acts only as a tool to make precise, valid tree transformations. This approach overcomes LLM biases by ensuring reliable architectural evolution without relying on the LLM to generate complex code directly.
