Unveiling Hidden Lyman Alpha Emitters in the DESI DR1 Data
A machine-learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was developed to automatically detect Lyman alpha emitters (LAEs) in DESI Data Release 1 spectra, which are crucial for studying high-redshift galaxies. The model achieved 95.2% purity and 95.9% completeness, successfully finding over 19,000 LAEs at redshifts between z~2 and z~3.5.
