Retromorphic Testing of Quantum Compiler Passes
This work introduces RetroQ, a testing framework that uses retromorphic testing and Hadamard test principles to automatically validate quantum compiler passes. It systematically checks if a compiler pass preserves both the semantic meaning and structural properties of a circuit by comparing original and transformed versions. Testing revealed several bugs, such as flawed symbolic handling and incorrect commutation logic, highlighting the need for specific testing methods in quantum software.
