Long-lived giant circular Rydberg atoms at room temperature

Researchers observed long-lived giant circular Rydberg atoms at room temperature using optical tweezers. By suppressing blackbody radiation decay via Purcell suppression, they achieved lifetimes exceeding 10 milliseconds for states up to n=103. This breakthrough enables coherent control and quantum simulation on the Rydberg platform with significantly extended coherence times.
