Searching for axions with quantum interferometry

The authors investigate using axion-photon interactions to imprint Aharonov-Bohm and Berry phases in quantum setups. They demonstrate that a coherent axion background modifies magnetic flux in an rf-SQUID, leading to a measurable voltage signal through the Josephson phase. This method projects sensitivity improvements of one to two orders of magnitude for specific mass ranges.
