Spatiotemporal spin transport from first principles

Researchers developed a first-principles computational framework using density matrix quantum transport within the Wigner function formalism to simulate spin dynamics and transport, including electron-phonon scattering at device scales. This method successfully identified three regimes of incoherent spin transport and found that the spin diffusion length remains constant in the Dyakonov-Perel regime, offering insights into realistic materials.
