Quantum Networking at the Speed of Quantum Computation: Kilohertz Entanglement in a Heterogeneous Quantum System
This work introduces a hybrid system entangling a trapped ion with a silicon-vacancy (SiV−) center in a diamond cavity to achieve kilohertz entanglement rates. The method uses free-space photon collection from the ion, converts the photon using difference-frequency generation, and heralds entanglement via detection at the SiV−. This 1.03 kHz rate matches processor cycle times needed for scalable quantum computing.
