Emergent chiral Higgs mode in pi-flux frustrated lattices
The study investigated interacting bosons on a dimerized lattice with $\pi$-flux to find new quantum phases. It found three phases: vortex superfluid, vortex Mott insulator, and featureless Mott insulator. The transition between the MI and V-SF phases breaks time-reversal symmetry (TRS) and U(1) symmetry. This transition features a chiral Higgs mode in the excitation spectrum, indicating emergent chirality in strongly correlated matter.
