Strong Field Gravitational Lensing in Full Wave Optics

The study investigates how compact binaries near massive black holes strongly lens gravitational waves using a full wave optics model. It finds that while frequency dependence remains universal, the quadrupolar emission of spinning binaries breaks axisymmetry, causing deviations from perfect alignment in edge-on configurations. This shows the limitations of simple point-mass models in strong fields.
