Relaxation-driven flat bands and topology in moir'e transition metal dichalcogenide heterobilayers
The study investigates how intrinsic lattice relaxation in moiré transition metal dichalcogenide heterobilayers creates novel topological band structures. Relaxation generates a pseudomagnetic field that opens a gap between valence bands, leading to predicted topological states at filling factor ν=6. This connects atomic reconstruction directly to many-body observables like charge gaps.
