Picosecond-resolved entanglement distribution over an urban free-space channel
Researchers developed a system to reliably transmit time-evolving entangled states over a noisy 270m free-space channel connecting two buildings in Rome. They achieved sub-50 ps timing accuracy using a novel synchronization device, proving that entanglement dynamics can be faithfully distributed through challenging urban environments, opening avenues for long-distance quantum communication.
