Simulation of topological superconductors and their competing orders using photon-mediated interactions

A cavity QED quantum simulator was created to engineer and study competing unconventional superconducting orders, specifically chiral $p_x+ip_y$ and $d_{x^2-y^2}+id_{xy}$. By tailoring cavity couplings between atoms in a 2D optical lattice, the system allows for controlled state preparation and continuous measurement of these complex phases. This platform reveals hidden competition and nonlinear dynamics in topological superconductivity that are difficult to study elsewhere.
