Quantum Bipolar Thermoelectricity
Researchers discovered a purely quantum mechanism for generating bipolar thermoelectricity in superconducting tunnel junctions. This effect arises spontaneously when coupling the junction to a cold electromagnetic environment, even at thermal equilibrium. This suggests bipolar quantum thermoelectricity can be used for sensing electromagnetic modes and designing low-temperature devices.
