Wilson Towers as Local Bulk Fields
This work shows that multi-winding Wilson loops in 2+1D gravity can reproduce one-loop partition functions for local bulk fields. It recasts these spools as a sum over single-winding loops corresponding to multi-trace primaries in the dual CFT, providing a microscopic description of one-loop determinants on the smooth BTZ handlebody.
