Geometry-optimized hyperbolic codes for modular fault-tolerant quantum architectures

This work explores hyperbolic surface codes by optimizing their geometric structure to achieve optimal efficiency scaling kd2/n = C(log k)2. By searching for ideal tiling parameters, the authors found a highly efficient (6, 6) code with an efficiency of approximately 33.34. They also developed a topology-aware compiler and simulated circuit performance on both monolithic and modular architectures to quantify how long-range gate errors affect fault tolerance thresholds.
