Synthetic areas spread in two-dimensional Superconducting Quantum Interference Filter Arrays

Researchers developed a method to turn 2D SQUID arrays into absolute magnetometers by selectively inserting 'bare' superconducting loops. This modification enables the array to function as a Superconducting Quantum Interference Filter (SQIF), producing an anti-peak response without harming individual SQUID performance. The work provides the mathematical proof for this 'synthetic area spread,' paving the way for ultra-high-performance quantum sensors.
