An HST survey of photometry and multiplicity of brown dwarfs and planetary-mass objects in the field of Taurus

An HST survey examined 26 young brown dwarfs and planetary-mass objects in Taurus using multi-band photometry to find companions. The study found no significant difference in binary frequency among these objects across different regions, suggesting the binary frequency for planetary-mass objects is set early in their lives. This implies wide-orbit binaries are rare and easily disrupted.
