Break It Down, Pass It On: Cross-Task Skill Transfer in LLM Agents
This research tested how inducing skills from completed tasks affects their reliability when reused for new tasks by LLM agents. The study found that subtask-level skills are better than task-level skills, and text-based skills transfer better than code-based ones. The key to reliable transfer is a skill's utility score, which balances how specific it is to a task and how broadly relevant it remains across many tasks.
