Cooling of Isolated Neutron Stars with Hyperon-mixed Kaon-Condensation Matter

Researchers use a relativistic mean-field framework to study how isolated neutron stars cool. They suggest that proton superconductivity in a 'deep model' suppresses standard nucleon cooling, allowing kaon-induced Urca processes to become the dominant heat loss method. This mechanism could explain observations of exceptionally cold neutron stars.
