Reduced incidence of little red dots at z < 3 based on number density and halo mass evolution

The study investigated why Little Red Dots (LRDs) are rarer at lower redshifts ($z<3$) than at higher redshifts. By measuring their large-scale environments and dark matter halo masses, researchers found that LRDs evolve from under-dense regions at high redshift to environments resembling normal galaxies by $z ext{ around } 3.5$. This environmental evolution provides a plausible explanation for their declining abundance.
