Turbulent Heating between 0.2 and 1 au: A Numerical Study

The study investigated if magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence causes the observed radial decrease in proton temperature in the solar wind between 0.2 and 1 AU, which contradicts simple adiabatic models. Numerical simulations using expanding box equations found that when small-scale energy is suppressed, a turbulent regime generates a temperature profile close to the observed 1/R dependence.
