Atomic-scale imaging of graphene nanoribbons on graphene after polymer-free substrate transfer

The study investigated transferring atomically precise graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) from gold surfaces to epitaxial graphene substrates using a polymer-free wet transfer method. While armchair GNRs maintained structural integrity, others with extended edges fragmented. STM confirmed the preservation of atomic precision in transferred GNRs, revealing structural changes during processing that are often missed by standard measurements.
