Role of Goldstone mode in nonequilibrium insulator under DC electric field
The study investigates how a gapless Goldstone mode excitation in a one-dimensional insulator responds to a DC electric field. It shows that this collective phase degree of freedom can efficiently absorb energy from accelerated electrons, suggesting it can lower the insulator-to-metal transition field through purely electronic collective dynamics.
