Continuum Variability in AGN: Evidence for Systematically Suppressed Fluctuations in the BAL Population
The study compared flux variability between Broad Absorption Line (BAL) and non-BAL quasars using SDSS and ZTF data across g and r bands. Results show BAL quasars have systematically lower long-term variability in both bands, suggesting this suppression is an intrinsic property of the continuum rather than a result of absorption or emission line contamination.
