A model for the ongoing subcluster interaction in Centaurus
The study characterized globular clusters in Centaurus to understand its assembly history and a merger between subclusters Cen 30 and Cen 45. Analysis of GC spatial distribution revealed a bridge connecting NGC 4696 and NGC 4709, suggesting a nearly head-on collision scenario. This model is supported by X-ray gas features and GC properties, with spectroscopic follow-up needed to confirm the interaction.
