Mass Proxy Quality of Halo Properties in IllustrisTNG and FLAMINGO Simulations: II. Galaxies, Stars, and Black Holes
This study analyzed stellar, black hole, and satellite galaxy properties in IllustrisTNG and FLAMINGO simulations across various halo scales and redshifts. It characterized scaling relations, correlations, and mass proxy quality (MPQ) for properties like total stellar mass ($M_{\star,\text{tot}}$) and satellite count ($N_{\text{sat}}$). The findings identify $M_{\star,\text{tot}}$, $N_{\text{sat}}$, and $M_{BH}$ as the best proxies for true halo mass, providing a 'ground truth' for population analysis.
