Discovery of the Slowest Radio Pulsar in the Small Magellanic Cloud

Researchers reanalyzed archival Parkes/Murriyang data to discover PSR J0103−72, a new radio pulsar in the Small Magellanic Cloud. This discovery revealed it is the slowest known radio pulsar there with a dispersion measure of 272 pc cm−3. The study shows that faint, long-period pulsars can be missed by standard searches and highlights the importance of reanalyzing old data.
