Noise Schedule Design for Diffusion Models: An Optimal Control Perspective
The authors reformulate noise schedule design as an optimal control problem using Fisher information to minimize sampling error. This yields new Affine-Coupled Schedules that guarantee state-of-the-art O(d/n) sampling error bounds. The method provides a principled way to tune schedules based on computational budgets, leading to superior performance over standard heuristics.
