Observing the Peculiar Acceleration of our Solar System with Quasar Proper Motions

Researchers used proper motions from Gaia EDR3 and Quaia quasars to measure our Solar System's acceleration relative to the quasar rest frame. The measurement yielded an acceleration consistent with previous findings, but wider credible intervals suggest prior uncertainty estimates were too optimistic. The results indicate a Galactic center-dominated acceleration, confirming the kinematic origin of this peculiar motion.
