Tidal Tails and Their Dynamics in Open Clusters Using Gaia DR3

Researchers used unsupervised machine learning and statistical methods on Gaia DR3 data to find tidal tails in five open clusters. They successfully detected these tails, which extended 40 to 100 pc and contained 100 to 200 stars in each cluster. The analysis also revealed kinematic details, such as higher binary fractions in the tails and significant rotation discovered for M67 and NGC 2281.
