Influence of numerical domain design in simulations of solar coronal heating with the MAGEC code
The study investigated how computational domain size and boundary conditions affect simulated solar atmospheres using 2D models. Findings show that larger vertical domains and non-reflecting boundary conditions delay coronal cooling, but sustaining a hot corona requires specific heating mechanisms. The research concludes that domain height and grid stretching are the most critical design parameters for accurate modeling.
