First-Principles Effective Mass in the Three-Dimensional Uniform Electron Gas

This study determined the quasiparticle effective mass ($m^*$) of a 3D uniform electron gas using two complementary routes—self-energy and a four-point vertex calculation—up to sixth renormalized order. The results show $m^*/m$ remains near unity in the metallic regime, exhibiting a shallow non-monotonic density dependence, suggesting dominant charge correlations primarily influence the angularly symmetric part of the interaction.
