Discovery of Hidden Extragalactic Pulsars in the Parkes Archival Data
Researchers reanalyzed old Parkes survey data using advanced search techniques to find hidden extragalactic radio pulsars. They discovered six new pulsars, five in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), increasing the known LMC population to 49. These findings suggest deeper surveys will reveal many more pulsars and that current samples are insufficient for certain analyses.
