Finite-momentum bound pairs of two electrons in an altermagnetic metal

The study investigates two-electron bound states on a square lattice with d-wave altermagnetism and attractive interactions. The key finding is that altermagnetic spin splitting naturally produces ground states of bound pairs with non-zero center-of-mass momentum. This suggests that altermagnetic spin splitting might favor pairing at finite momentum, which is relevant to proposed Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov (FFLO) superconductivity.
