Are E>B regions essential for particle injection in relativistic magnetic reconnection?
The study investigated whether regions where electric field strength exceeds magnetic field strength (E>B) are necessary for particle injection during relativistic magnetic reconnection. Using kinetic simulations across various magnetization levels, the research found that E>B regions are neither necessary nor the dominant direct contributors to pre-injection work for most particles. The magnetized channel consistently supplies the largest energy gain for injected tracers.
