A model for mosquito-borne epidemic outbreaks with information-dependent protective behaviour
The study models mosquito-borne epidemics where human hosts change their protective behavior based on information about disease prevalence. It found that this behavioral response can either help control outbreaks or cause them to persist longer, depending on how the behavior interacts with other factors. Using advanced mathematical theory, the research shows that information-driven protection can lead to prolonged epidemic waves.
