Dynamic control of dipole decay rate via graphene plexcitons

Researchers used graphene-quantum dot hybrid systems to dynamically control how fast a quantum emitter decays by tuning its light-matter interaction. By applying a voltage to an AFM tip, they changed the chemical potential of graphene, which shifted and split coupled modes called plexcitons. This allows for programmable emission control across a broad infrared spectrum, opening doors for tunable single-photon sources.
