A 4200-hour HyperFlash and 'ECLAT campaign on the hyperactive FRB 20240114A: constraining energetics with the most brilliant bursts

Researchers observed FRB 20240114A for 4,200 hours, detecting numerous high-energy bursts totaling $4.4 imes 10^{42}$ erg. They found that the single most brilliant burst (STROOP) contributes one-third of this energy and requires a strong magnetic field consistent with a magnetar origin. This suggests intense X-ray/gamma-ray flares from a central magnetar exhaust the source's energy.
